There has been much speculation about Janhvi Kapoor parting ways with Karan Johar's talent management agency, namely Dharma Cornerstone Agency. Amidst the speculation, Karan made some general comments about actors leaving talent agencies in a conversation with Sarthak Ahuja's podcast.
The filmmaker talked about how actors quit these agencies every few years because of their lack of loyalty and their insecurities. Speaking broadly about the business side of talent management in Bollywood and expressing his passion for the job, Karan said, "It's a thankless job. Sometimes, you are spending hours (for the clientele), and then, nobody is really loyal. Every two years, people are shifting from one agency to the other because they are so insecure, they feel that we are time-bound."
Subsequently, many media outlets linked Karan's comments with Janhvi's recent exit from his talent agency. Now, the filmmaker has made a plea to the outlets through his Instagram account. Taking to his Instagram Stories, he wrote, "I want to politely speak of click bait headlines.... Lots of us give interviews and podcasts and we are happy to do so... but to take a line from an interview and quote it out of context is just click bait and makes one wary of speaking at all." The filmmaker then made a plea to the media to avoid such practice. "This is a humble request to not quote a line that twists the relevance of the statement made with integrity as opposed to sounding personal, offensive or sensational."
On the film front, Karan Johar's last movie as a director is 2023's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, and Jaya Bachchan, among others. Since then, he has produced multiple films through his Dharma Productions banner and has made cameo appearances in many films.
