Even as film personalities from across industries in Indian cinema are celebrating Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar: The Revenge, filmmaker Karan Johar revealed that he has not yet watched the film. Taking to his Instagram Stories earlier this Sunday, Karan revealed that he is yet to catch the Dhurandhar sequel in theatres because of his film commitments.

"I am filming in a location that has no access to a cinema and am suffering from FOMO! Dhurandhar FOMO," the director wrote. He also expressed his eagerness to watch the second part to Aditya's spy saga, starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role. He added, "I can't wait to watch it and am so proud of so many members of our fraternity who are coming out and supporting and loving the film... It's so heartening to see the united love for an Indian film!"

Dhurandhar The Revenge Movie Review: Masterful, marvellous mythmaking

Interestingly, Karan Johar's thoughts about Dhurandhar: The Revenge come at a time when a section of netizens criticise how the film fraternity has been praising the film through social media. Many netizens argue that the industry members commend the film out of bias for the ruling government, which the makers allegedly pander to in the film. For example, actor Prakash Raj claimed that the appreciation that South Indian film personalities show for the movie stems from a sense of obligation to the government. "Replying to a social media post, highlighting Allu Arjun, Jr NTR, Vijay Deverakonda, and Mahesh Babu's appreciation for Dhurandhar 2, Prakash wrote, “Signs of obligations are spreading south too… Just asking."

Coming back to Karan Johar, the filmmaker recently appreciated the first part in the franchise. Calling Dhurandhar a nuanced film, he said that he did not find its political ideologies objectionable. It is interesting what his take for the sequel would be like.
