Amidst the ongoing dispute between Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment over the former’s exit from Don 3, the Producers Guild of India released a strong worded statement against the “growing instances of talent, directors, and technicians, reneging on their commitments to producers, often at the eleventh hour.”
Although the body didn’t explicitly mention Ranveer’s name, it stated that it has received formal complaints from its members Excel Entertainment Private Limited and Panorama Studios International Limited regarding such issues.
Stating that such practices lead to financial loss not just to the producers but also other verticals in the industry, the guild stated, “these instances have caused significant reputational damage, adverse impact on credibility and brand value of the films concerned and jeopardised the livelihoods of hundreds of technicians and crew members who depend on these projects.”
In its statement, the body also noted that they aren’t in favour of steps that cause “disruptions to the process of content production.” “Any position to the contrary is not ethical and harms the collaborative spirit of our film making community,” it stated.
They concluded with, “we urge all parties to resolve their disputes amicably and we will strive to protect the fraternity’s interests.”
The statement comes at a time when Ranveer sent a legal notice to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) over its non-cooperation directive against the actor, following which the body has revoked its “ban” on the actor. The FWICE, however, has claimed that the revocation is unrelated to the notice sent by Ranveer and their legal department will respond to it.
