After Ranveer Singh issued an official statement a few days ago about his FWICE non-cooperation directive, stating that he chooses to maintain silence, he actor has now reportedly sought legal route to deal with the ‘ban.’ According to reports, Ranveer has sent legal notice to FWICE over the directive, which advised that its FWICE members to not work with the actor in any project.
While more details about the legal notice are yet to be disclosed, this development puts FWICE in a tough spot. Many industry members have already expressed their support for Ranveer. A few days ago, CINTAA member Padmini Kolhapure stated her public support for Ranveer.
Meanwhile, producer TP Aggarwal too moved the High Court against FWICE directive, claiming that the federation has no legal authority to impose any kind of ban on an artist, or instruct anyone to not work with someone.
While the news of Ranveer Singh exiting Don 3 was out in December 2025, it was in April 2026 that Farhan Akhtar reportedly first approached FWICE, stating that the Don 3 producers are compelled to bear major financial losses, amounting to nearly Rs 45 crores, after Ranveer decided to walk out of the film, weeks before the shoot was scheduled to commence.
The issue was first taken to Producers Guild of India, before being moved to Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA). Since IFTDA is one of the 32 unions affiliated under the FWICE umbrella, FWICE eventually came into the picture.
