FWICE has now revoked the non-cooperative ban over Ranveer Singh that it had imposed a few days ago, over the Dhurandhar actor’s last-minute exit from Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 a few months ago.
The decision to revoke the ‘ban’ comes after an official appeal from IMPPA, among other film bodies. In an official statement, FWICE stated, “It was collectively felt that the matter should now towards a constructive and amicable resolution in the larger interest of maintaining harmony within entertainment industry. It is in this spirit of goodwill, mutual respect, and consideration that we have decided to withdraw the NCD issued against Ranveer Singh.”
In their official appeal to FWICE, issued on May 30, IMPPA president Abhay Sinha had stated, “We as a strong body will take up this matter at the earliest in the interest of the industry. We are believers of finding solutions sitting across the table. Our industry is a family of creative people who dream about being achievers. And to achieve this, Producers’ survival is important as he plays a key role. Hoping for your immediate withdrawal of the non-cooperation directive.
Meanwhile, addressing the media, CINTAA general secretary Upasana Singh said “It’s our responsibility to look after artists’ interests. The film industry is a family. We have a lot of domestic quarrels at our home also, but that doesn’t mean we should escalate it every time. It should not happen that we’re going to court. Since Ranveer is a member, we’ll try to sort out the issues concerning him and the producers. Ranveer has revived the film industry with Dhurandhar and made history. An actor’s career facilitates careers of so many technicians.”
Earlier today, a few hours before FWICE officially revoked their directive, Producers Guild of India too had requested both the parties to solve the issue amicably.
