We have been reporting about the dispute between Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar over the former’s last-minute exit from Don 3, which reportedly caused major losses to Don 3 producers. The issue escalated in a major way when Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer for his unprofessional behaviour. While majority of the film industry remains in Ranveer’s side, now producer TP Aggarwal has initiated a legal step, moving court and challenging the directive by FWICE.
According to a report by Times of India, filing a petition at the Bombay Civil Court in Dindoshi, in his plea against FWICE as well as IMPPA, TP Aggarwal has made the argument that no person, organisation, or trade body has the legal authority to impose a ban or direct others to refuse to work with someone, also pointing out that such attempts to discourage people from collaborating with others should not be taken lightly.
“Such actions can have far-reaching consequences for livelihoods and creative freedom, and therefore must be dealt with in a fair, transparent, and lawful manner,” he added. Both FWICE and IMPPA have also been reportedly issued notices.
It is to be noted that TP Aggarwal has previously served as president of the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association for nearly 17 years, besides being the chief of Film Federation of India (FFI) on several occasions.
A few weeks ago, after Farhan Akhtar approached FWICE, seeking damages amounting to Rs 45 crore from Ranveer, FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive against the Dhurandhar actor. The directive was followed by an official statement from Ranveer Singh’s spokesperson who said, “Throughout the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect.”
