The trailer of Fukrey fame Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma starrer Rahu Ketu was launched at a grand ceremony in Mumbai on Tuesday. The film has been directed by Vipul Vig, who has been previously associated with the Fukrey franchise as a writer.
Rahu Ketu promises to capture the wacky tale of two bumbling misfits (named Rahu and Ketu) who struggle at most things in life and are blamed for carrying bad luck everywhere. However, a surreal twist of fate brings them to a place where they are tasked with bringing corrupt and evil people to justice. The trailer promises plenty of slapstick and broad humour, with a touch of a high concept idea, much in sync with the universe of Fukrey.
The ensemble cast of Rahu Ketu also includes Piyush Mishra, Shalini Pandey, Amit Sial, Manu Rishi Chadha, Chunky Panday and Sumit Gulati, among others.
Piyush Mishra, who was also present at the trailer launch, described Rahu Ketu as a mythological thriller. He also stated that it would be wrong to label Rahu Ketu as just a comedy, adding that there are many layers to this film and does satire on many things about the society.
Shalini Pandey is also part of the film and will be playing the role of Meenu Taxi. At the trailer event, Pulkit compared Shalini's role to Richa Chadha's in the Fukrey franchise.
Speaking about his love for fantasy films like Ajooba (1990) and Chhota Chetan (1998), Pulkit said, “I always wanted to be a part of fantasy film — it finally gets fulfilled with Rahu Ketu.”
Rahu Ketu also marks the fifth collaboration between Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma - they have previously worked together in three films of Fukrey franchise and Dolly Ki Doli (2015)
Speaking on the occasion, Vipul Vig expressed his desire to make a franchise out of Rahu Ketu as well, much like Fukrey.
