Actor Shalini Pandey, known for films such as Arjun Reddy, Idli Kadai, and Jayeshbhai Jordaar, has joined PETA India’s campaign “Adopt Don’t Shop," which encourages people to avoid purchasing dogs from breeders and instead adopt them from streets and shelters. The other day, Shalini unveiled the poster for the campaign at a Mumbai event and expressed how satisfied she feels about being involved in a cause that she closely relates to. Speaking at this event, the actor said that her strong sense of empathy drives her love for animals, as with her father. Shalini also discussed how adopting a dog named Bir has impacted her life. "I’ve become a better human being in the last few years because of my dogs," the actor shared, underscoring her emotional bond with the animals.

Shalini Pandey also underscored her commitment to the cause by wearing a T-shirt featuring the text "I Love Desi Dogs" at the event in Mumbai. The actor's commitment comes at a time when there has been plenty of discourse around dog adoption, especially concerning stray dogs. For example, the Supreme Court recently mandated the clearance of every stray dog from Delhi-NCR streets and its placement in shelters organised by local bodies. The mandate faced plenty of push back from actors, such as Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, to name two, while some also supported the move.
