Filmmaker Aanand L Rai is reuniting with actor Dhanush for Tere Ishk Mein, a film he says could only have happened with the National Award-winning star. The duo, who last collaborated on Atrangi Re, are once again teaming up with composer AR Rahman, lyricist Irshad Kamil, and producer Bhushan Kumar under Colour Yellow Productions and T-Series.
Reflecting on the genesis of Tere Ishk Mein, Aanand shared that the story emerged from feelings left unresolved after Atrangi Re. “After our last film, there were emotions we never fully let go of,” he said, adding that both he and Dhanush kept circling back to those ideas. “We often discussed what happens to love when innocence fades, when time changes people. Tere Ishk Mein grew from that unfinished thought," he said, as per a report on IANS.
For the director, the upcoming film goes far beyond being a conventional romance. “It’s about love that doesn’t stay tidy or easily defined,” he explained. “It’s a story of people who love deeply, lose completely, and carry the weight of that loss as they grow. This film reflects where I—and my characters—stand today: older, bruised, and still searching.”
Co-starring Kriti Sanon, Tere Ishk Mein promises an intense exploration of passion and heartbreak. The teaser, unveiled on October 1, gave audiences a glimpse into a world steeped in longing and emotional turmoil. Two weeks later, the title track was released, reuniting Rahman, Arijit Singh, and Irshad Kamil. The song’s blend of Rahman’s evocative music, Singh’s soul-stirring voice, and Kamil’s poetic lyrics has already struck a chord with listeners.
