The preview for Aryan Khan’s upcoming satirical series The Ba***ds of Bollywood was showcased at a gala event hosted by Shah Rukh Khan in Mumbai recently. With his trademark wit and charm, SRK introduced the actors who will be part of the show and among them was Bobby Deol, who will be essaying the role of an established star Ajay Talwar in the series.
Talking about Bobby and the bond they have shared over the years, Shah Rukh said, “We have been working together for 30 years, and we usually aren’t this formal with each other. I never thought that this day would come when we would be working with our kids. I want to thank Bobby from the bottom of my heart, with all my love, for making this show with my son. You have brought so much warmth, love and gravitas to the show.” To this the actor replied, “It is quite a special day for me as well, because our kids want to join the same industry, and now Aryan has taken that step. I remember seeing him as a kid and the kind of person he became as he grew up. He has always been ready to conquer the world, and today is the day.”
Bobby also revealed that when The Red Chillies team called him to do the show, he was ready even without reading the script. But then Aryan insisted so he listened to his narration for seven hours. “I am extremely lucky to be a part of this project. Woh alag baat hai ki boht nichodha hamein (he overworked us a lot). He used to ask me, ‘One more take?’ and I used to say, ‘Haan beta, ek aur take (Why not? Let’s do it). I initially thought that he was going to go easy on us, but he made us work very hard.” Shah Rukh replied to this and said, “Ek baar isne raat ko call karke bola, ki tu aja bhai yeh boht kaam karwa raha hai, mujhe jaana hai ab (He called me during the night one time and told me, ‘Please come to the set, he is making us work too much. I need to go now).”
The event was also graced by Shah Rukh’s wife and the show’s producer Gauri Khan. The series stars Lakshya Lalwani, Bobby Deol, Sahher Bambba, Mona Singh, Anya Singh, Raghav Juyial, Gautami Kapoor, Manoj Pahwa, and Vijayant Kohli. Karan Johar, Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh were also seen in the show’s preview and might be appearing in cameos.
