Ranveer Singh made his debut with Yash Raj Films'-backed Band Baaja Baarat in 2010 and worked in multiple projects for the production house. He has called Aditya Chopra a mentor in many interviews in the past. However, it was after the release of the 2022 comedy-drama, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, that Ranveer left the production house. The film failed at the box office. Now, YRF casting director Shanoo Sharma spoke about the actor’s decision to leave and said that it didn’t hurt when he exited.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Shanoo was asked about if Ranveer’s exit hurt her. “I don’t think it hurt. It didn’t hurt, not at all,” she said. “He is going ahead with his life. I wish him all the best. There’s a reason why he must be going. There’s a reason why the production house is okay with him going.”
She added, “I feel things work, and then they fade, and then they start to work again so it’s just that. I don’t think there is any bad blood as such but he needed to move and for me, he is my best friend as well so there’s nothing difficult on that front.”
On the work front, Ranveer’s last major role was in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which released in theatres in 2023 and also starred Alia Bhatt. The film did well at the box office and broke the spell of flops for Ranveer. After that, he had a cameo in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again. He will be seen next in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, which also stars Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan in pivotal roles. It is set to be released in theatres on December 5.
