A day after it came to light that Stranger Things star David Harbour has quit Behemoth!, it is being speculated that Will Arnett will be replacing him. The film is helmed by Tony Gilroy and distributed by Searchlight Pictures.
As per reports, Harbour's decision to quit the project stemmed from a desire to take time away from work after the 'overwhelming' commitment to and association with the popular Netflix show.
Behemoth! also stars Pedro Pascal, Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, Matthew Lillard, Margarita Levieva and Alexa Swinton. The production is wrapping up soon, with only minimal reshoots required for Harbour's scenes, thanks to his busy Stranger Things press tour schedule. Insiders say the recasting won't impact the shoot's expected end date in the coming weeks.
Besides directing the film, Tony Gilroy is also serving as the scriptwriter for Behemoth!. The film marks the filmmaker’s return as a writer-director after his 2012 movie The Bourne Legacy. He is also producing the film in association with Sanne Wohlenberg. Damian Garcia serves as the cinematographer. While the makers have kept a lid on the storyline, the film reportedly revolves around the life of a cellist.
This new role for Will Arnett marks a significant dramatic shift for the actor, following his critically acclaimed performance in Searchlight's Is This Thing On!, a Bradley Cooper-directed dramedy that earned him top-notch reviews and showcased his versatility. Known for his comedic roles, Arnett's latest performance has garnered him the best reviews of his career.
His podcast SmartLess, hosted by Jason Bateman, Arnett, and Sean Hayes, received a Golden Globe nomination. He is also known for projects like The Lego Movie, The Morning Show, BoJack Horseman, andArrested Development, among others.
