Earlier, we reported about David Harbour, known for his role as Jim Hopper in Netflix's Stranger Things, being in talks to star in a film titled Behemoth! The actor was subsequently confirmed for the role, but he recently exited the project, with Tony Gilroy as its director and Searchlight Pictures as its distributor. Variety reported the news following a conversation with a Searchlight Pictures representative, who confirmed it to the publication. An account that spreads speculation on social media, named Deuxmoi, is the first to break the news.
According to Variety, Harbour's decision stems from a desire to take time away from work after the 'overwhelming' commitment to and association with the popular Netflix show. Harbour has been facing much attention and a bit of criticism from the media following his Stranger Things 5 co-star Millie Bobby Brown's initial accusations of harassment.
While Bobby Brown has mended her relationship with Harbour with a positive statement about him, the spotlight has reportedly taken a lot out of him. Speaking of Stranger Things, David Harbour has had an interesting journey with the Netflix show. Hopper seems to die in the third season, only to make a comeback in the subsequent season. The actor also has a history of mental health troubles; at 26, he had a bipolar disorder diagnosis. The actor has talked openly about it.
Coming back to the film, Harbour now has a replacement, although the drama's makers are yet to reveal further details about it. Despite Harbour's exit, Olivia Wilde and Pedro Pascal remain part of the film's cast.
