The series, developed by Ben Watkins, is inspired by characters created by bestselling author James Patterson. Set in Washington, DC, it follows Alex Cross (Aldis Hodge), a skilled homicide detective and forensic psychologist with a unique talent for getting inside the minds of serial killers to track them down.

Season 2 saw Cross going head-to-head with a relentless vigilante targeting corrupt billionaire elites. With the show renewed for a third season, the narrative is expected to further deepen the stakes and expand the world surrounding its central character.
