Zendaya has suggested that the upcoming third season of Euphoria could mark the end of the critically acclaimed drama.

During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, the actor responded candidly when asked if the next instalment would be the show’s last. “I think so, yeah,” she said, before reaffirming her stance when pressed again: “Yes, I think so.”

Reflecting on her journey with the series, Zendaya spoke about the profound impact her character Rue has had on her life. “Euphoria cracked my heart open,” she shared, adding, “Rue taught me so much about empathy and about redemption.” She also expressed gratitude for the experience, noting that the team behind the show had witnessed her personal and professional growth. “I owe so much to that show,” she said.

The third season, which premieres this Sunday at 9 p.m. on HBO and HBO Max, arrives after a four-year gap. Created by Sam Levinson, the new chapter takes a significant leap forward in time, moving the characters out of their high school years. The story now follows them as young adults navigating different paths, with Rue entangled in dangerous circumstances, including evading drug lords in Mexico.

Levinson previously described the series as a tapestry of complex individuals on the margins of society. “I wanted to create a mosaic of these outsider characters… dealing with addiction and insecurities,” he said, explaining that these layered personalities shaped the show’s narrative foundation.

Season three continues to feature returning cast members such as Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, and Maude Apatow. New additions include Sharon Stone, Rosalía, Natasha Lyonne, and Marshawn Lynch, among others.

The upcoming season will also carry emotional weight following the loss of Angus Cloud, who portrayed the fan-favourite character Fezco and passed away in 2023.
