Jordan Peele’s highly anticipated fourth film as a director won’t be arriving as soon as expected. Universal Pictures has officially removed the untitled project from its release slate, where it was last scheduled to debut in October 2026.

The follow-up to Peele’s 2022 thriller Nope has faced multiple delays. It was originally slated for a Christmas 2024 release, before last year’s Hollywood strikes pushed it to Halloween 2026. Now, with filming yet to begin, the project has been taken off the calendar altogether. Universal declined to comment, and representatives for Peele have not responded.

As with his previous films, the story details remain tightly under wraps. Still, Peele hinted at his creative excitement during a 2024 appearance on Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend. “I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I’m psyched that I have another film that, you know, could be my favourite movie if I make it right,” he said.

While his directorial return is on hold, Peele has stayed active as a producer. His latest effort, Him, is set to hit theatres on September 19. The sports-horror film stars Tyriq Withers as a rookie football player taken under the wing of a legendary quarterback, played by Marlon Wayans. The mentorship, however, comes at a terrifying supernatural cost.

The film has already generated early buzz, with Wayans earning praise for delivering a surprising dramatic performance.
