The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes star Tom Blyth is heading from Panem to the chaos of Wall Street in his next big-screen outing, Bull Run, a sharp-witted existential comedy arriving in select theatres on November 14.
The film, directed by Alfredo Barrios Jr in his feature debut, has been picked up for US distribution by Vertical, which promises a smart, funny, and self-aware look at the financial world’s absurdities.
Blyth stars as Bobby Sanders, a washed-up hockey player who reinvents himself as a junior investment banker in the cutthroat corridors of Wall Street, only to discover that finding meaning in life might be harder than surviving the market. The ensemble cast includes Chris Diamantopoulos (Silicon Valley), Jay Mohr (Jerry Maguire), Zach Villa, Jordyn Denning, Ashwin Gore, Helena Mattsson, Trevor Gretzky, Troy Garity, Sam Daly, and Alyshia Ochse.
The screenplay, penned by Bill Keenan, is based on his own memoir, Discussion Materials: Tales of a Rookie Wall Street Investment Banker. Keenan also produces alongside Doug Ellin, Karen Baldwin, Howard Baldwin, Andrew Sugerman, and Bill Immerman.
Blyth, who recently gained acclaim for portraying Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes and leads the Western drama Billy the Kid, will next be seen in Netflix’s upcoming romantic comedy People We Meet on Vacation, based on the bestselling novel by Emily Henry.
