Actors Tom Blyth and Emily Bader are set to star in People We Meet on Vacation, an upcoming film adaptation of Emily Henry’s best-selling novel of the same name.
Blyth, known for playing the lead role in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, and Bader, who played the titular character in the recently-released series My Lady Jane, are set to play best friends in People We Meet On Vacation.
The film follows Alex (Blyth) and Poppy (Bader) who took one week of every summer vacation together. However, things changed when they stopped speaking for two years. When Poppy reaches out and convinces Alex to take one more vacation together, she sees it as her time to fix their broken relationship. But there’s one unspoken truth they have yet to confront: Are they really just friends or is there more to their relationship?
Brett Haley, who has helmed projects like The Hero (2017), All Together Now (2020) and Hearts Beat Loud (2018), is directing the film with Yulin Kuang adapting the screenplay. Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey and Isaac Klausner are producing with Laura Quicksilver and Erin Siminoff overseeing the project for 3000 Pictures.
The film is being produced under the partnership where Sony Pictures will offer Netflix a first look at any films it intends to make for streaming.
People We Meet on Vacation was published in 2021 and quickly became a best seller with more than two million copies sold in the US. Apart from this, four of her other films are also in development to be made into films: Beach Read, Book Lovers and Funny Story — while her novel, Happy Place is going to be a series on Netflix.
