Paramount+ is doubling down on the criminal underworld. MobLand is officially coming back for a second season.
The gritty crime drama, which has quickly become the streamer’s second most-watched original series of all time, surpassed only by Landman, has amassed over 26 million global viewers, based on episode one’s first 70 days of streaming, according to Paramount.
Created by Ronan Bennett (Top Boy, The Day of the Jackal) and executive produced by Guy Ritchie, MobLand explores a brutal feud between two mob families that threatens to upend their dynasties. Bennett writes the series alongside Jez Butterworth (Ford v Ferrari, Spectre), who is under an exclusive TV deal with Paramount+ and Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios.
The show boasts a powerhouse ensemble led by Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren. They’re joined by Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Lisa Dwan, and Emily Barber.
Produced in association with MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, MobLand is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution. The executive producer roster also includes David C Glasser (101 Studios), Keith Cox, Nina L Diaz, Kris Thykier, Ivan Atkinson, Tom Hardy, Dean Baker, Anthony Byrne, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari.
