Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most star-studded outings yet and is slated for a December 18 release next year. Before it hits theatres, fans will be able to catch all of the Avengers once again before everything changes forever as Avengers: Endgame is scheduled to come back to the screens on September 25, less than two months before Doomsday's release. It is currently unknown for how long the window will be in theatres.
Avengers: Endgame was the 22nd film of MCU and it bid goodbye to the founding Avengers Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Hulk and Thor. Directed by the Russo brothers, who have also helmed Doomsday, Endgame featured an ensemble cast that includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.
In the film, the Avengers and their allies team up together to defeat Thanos and his actions in Infinity War, which erased half of all life in the universe. Surpassing $2.8 billion in global box office numbers, Endgame broke several box office records, surpassing Avatar's (2009) collections. It held the coveted position of the highest-grossing film of all time from July 2019 to March 2021.
Robert Downey Jr, whose stint as the Iron Man came to an end in Endgame, is back to Marvel as Doctor Doom and will face off against Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and the X-Men.
Written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely, the film features an ensemble cast consisting of characters from the above movies including Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal.
Endgame's re-release is aimed at bringing back fans to theatres to experience the final chapter of the MCU which ended several main characters' story arcs.
After Doomsday, a sequel titled Avengers: Secret Wars,is slated for a release on December 17, 2027.
