As excitement builds around Avengers: Doomsday, fans are eagerly speculating which heroes and anti-heroes might return for Marvel’s 2026 blockbuster. Chief among them is Wolverine, and Hugh Jackman is well aware of the buzz.
The Oscar-nominated actor, who was last seen alongside Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool & Wolverine, was recently asked whether he might bring Logan back for the upcoming Avengers ensemble. “I really have nothing to add,” Jackman said with a grin during a recent appearance on The View. “If I had something to add, I would find a really cool way to not say it, but honestly, I have nothing to contribute.”
Still, he couldn’t resist teasing fans a little further. “I really can’t say much, except when you say ‘appear’, more like dominate and destroy every other character—I’m kidding,” he quipped, keeping speculation alive while offering no firm confirmation.
Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine spans more than two decades, beginning with X-Men (2000) and continuing through X2, The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Wolverine, Logan, and now Deadpool & Wolverine, a role many once thought he had retired from for good.
While his involvement in Avengers: Doomsday remains uncertain, several other familiar faces from the X-Men universe have been confirmed. Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique) are all set to return.
However, not everyone is coming back. Halle Berry, who played Storm across several X-Men films, has previously stated she won’t be part of the upcoming Avengers chapter.
Set to release on December 18, 2026, Avengers: Doomsday already boasts a massive cast, including Robert Downey Jr as Doctor Doom, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America, and Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm.
The lineup also features Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Florence Pugh (Yelena), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Sebastian Stan (Bucky), Winston Duke (M’Baku), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), and Channing Tatum (Gambit), among many others.
