Anna Kendrick and Seth Rogen are in negotiations to star in Babies, a contemporary comedy-drama set in Los Angeles. The project will be directed by Lauren Miller Rogen (Like Father), who also penned the original screenplay.

The story follows Annie (Kendrick) and her husband Aaron (Rogen), a couple wrestling with whether or not to start a family. Their lives take an unexpected turn when their recently divorced friend moves in — along with her 3-year-old — making the pair instant co-parents. Described as an ensemble comedy-drama, Babies explores the complicated, often funny journey toward parenthood… or the decision to forgo it. Production is scheduled to begin this November in Los Angeles.

Palos, Jr, and Zach Garrett; Monarch’s Alan Powell and Vicky Patel; and Lylas’ Sophie Høegh.

Miller Rogen’s filmmaking credits include writing, directing, and producing Netflix’s Like Father starring Kristen Bell and Kelsey Grammer, as well as writing and starring in the Focus Features release For a Good Time, Call. She is also attached to helm the horror-comedy Be Mine for MRC and Project X/Radio Silence and the action comedy Sky Dancers for Original Film.

Kendrick, an Oscar nominee for Up in the Air, is known for her work in A Simple Favour, Alice, Darling, The Accountant, and the Pitch Perfect and Trolls franchises. She is currently filming Chris Rock’s untitled A24 directorial debut alongside Adam Driver and Daniel Kaluuya.

Rogen, meanwhile, has kept busy across film and television. He recently co-created and starred in The Studio for Apple TV+, which earned 23 Emmy nominations, and in Amazon MGM’s animated series Sausage Party: Foodtopia. His upcoming slate includes Season 2 of Platonic, the comedy Good Fortune with Keanu Reeves and Aziz Ansari, and Olivia Wilde’s The Invite. He also produces Amazon’s Gen Vand the final season of The Boys, due in 2026.
