Jason Sanjay, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, and whose directorial debut, the Sundeep Kishan-starrer Sigma, is set to release on October 2. Though the film is made in Tamil, the makers have been promoting it aggressively in Telugu and held a pre-release event in Hyderabad on Friday evening. Chiranjeevi attended the event as the chief guest and said that he wanted to encourage young talent, which is why he made it a point to attend the function.
“I am shooting for my film Kaaka and asked them to let me leave early as I told them that I had to attend this Sigma event. They told me that after a hectic shoot, actors generally take rest and asked me to do the same. They were right too. But I feel it is my responsibility to encourage young people when they make a film and bring it to the audience. I feel I should do whatever I can to support them and say a few words of encouragement. It is not a burden to attend events like this, as I always consider it a responsibility,” said Chiranjeevi at the event.
Talking about Jason Sanjay, Chiranjeevi recalled his association with Sanjay’s grandfather, filmmaker SA Chandrasekhar, who directed two films for him. “He directed Chattaniki Kallu Levu and Devanthakudu for me. When I heard that his grandson was making his debut as a director, I definitely wanted to attend the event,” said Chiranjeevi. He also recalled that he and Rajinikanth had attended the muhurat ceremonies of a couple of Vijay’s films when the actor was young.
“When I asked Jason why he wanted to become a director when his father was a big star and whether he wanted to take up acting, he told me that he was interested in writing and narrating stories. Then I thought Jason had got these qualities from his grandparents. His grandfather SA Chandrasekhar was a director, and he directed two films for me. One of those films had a story written by Jason’s grandmother Shobha. Jason has inherited those qualities, and I felt happy that another young person from that family is entering the industry. When I looked at Jason, I felt that his father Vijay also looked the same at this age,” said Chiranjeevi.
Chiranjeevi wished Jason Sanjay and the entire Sigma team a great success. “These days, audiences are encouraging films that have good content, and the latest example is Irumudi. Now, Sigma is also releasing on October 2, and I wish this film becomes a success,” said Chiranjeevi.
