The Tamil film Sigma is all set to release in Telugu on October 2. Jason Sanjay, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, is making his directorial debut with this film. Sundeep Kishan is playing the lead, while Faria Abdullah is the female lead. Lyca Productions is producing the film, and Mythri Movie Distribution is releasing the Telugu version.
The team is currently in Hyderabad to promote the film, and all eyes are on debutant director Jason Sanjay. Talking about the film, he said that it is a complete fun ride with a lot of interesting moments. “Sigma is like a treasure hunt, and all the commercial elements are there in this film. It’s a complete fun ride, and it’s like an adventure,” said Jason Sanjay.
He added that he likes Sundeep Kishan’s Bhairavakona and has also watched his Tamil film Michael.
When asked why he chose direction, he said that he studied direction and screenwriting in college. “I get to work not just with artists, but I love working with all the departments of filmmaking. That’s another reason I chose direction,” he said.
He added that he has received the support of his father, family and fans. “I want to prove myself first, and my father is eagerly waiting for the release of this film. Obviously, he is the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and has important work to do, so he can’t come to promote my film. But he is eagerly waiting for the film,” said Jason Sanjay when asked why his father did not promote the film.
When asked about the best quality he learnt from his father, Sanjay answered without mincing words: “Punctuality.”
He also revealed that time management was one of the biggest challenges he faced while making the film. “Managing call sheets, understanding the logistics on the production side and time management were the biggest challenges,” said Sanjay.
Jason Sanjay also revealed that he has watched a lot of Telugu films. Asked about his favourite Telugu films, he said, “I like Maryada Ramanna, which was my favourite childhood movie, and then I like Khaleja a lot.”
SS Rajamouli directed Maryada Ramanna, starring Sunil, while Khaleja was directed by Trivikram Srinivas, with Mahesh Babu playing the lead.
When asked if he would consider acting, as many of Vijay’s fans want to see him on screen, he said that he is open to the idea. “I am waiting for Sigma to release, and after that, I will definitely consider exploring acting,” said Sanjay.
The director thanked the fans for encouraging him and once again reiterated that he would consider acting after Sigma.
