Actor Ram Charan, last seen in Game Changer, is currently gearing up for his next, Peddi. The film, helmed by Buchi Babu Sana, also stars Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role. The audio launch of the film took place on Saturday in Madhya Pradesh.

During the event, the actor was asked to give short descriptions of cricket players. When asked about Sachin Tendulkar, he said, "Long legendary run". For MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, he said, "calm and cool", "everybody's man" and "fire", respectively. But lastly, when he was asked about Jasprit Bumrah, he referred to him as a "footballer" and even said he was his favourite.

Following his comments, a clipping of his speech was shared widely on social media, with many even creating memes out of the moment. Then, post-midnight on Saturday, the actor penned a note of apology, explaining that he is "genuinely so forgetful with names sometimes".

"Uff… I’m genuinely so forgetful with names sometimes. Apologies to Jasprit Bumrah Ji for the mix-up – it was a genuine human error in the middle of all the excitement and the crowd. I truly respect you and I am a huge fan of your game. You make every Indian feel proud when you consistently put batsmen on the back foot," his apology note read.

In Peddi, a sports drama, Ram Charan plays a wrestler. The trailer also establishes him as someone adept at cricket and even athletics. Ram Charan has undergone a notable physical transformation for the role, which spans multiple timelines.

Peddi also stars Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, Boman Irani, Ravi Kishan, Viji Chandrasekhar, Rajatava Dutta, and Ajay Ghosh, among others. The film has music composed by AR Rahman.
