Earlier this Wednesday, the makers of Dragon dropped a video offering a glimpse into the film that also confirmed its title. The announcement coincided with Jr NTR's birthday. The film marks the first collaboration between director Prashanth Neel and Jr NTR. Recently, the filmmaker spoke about Dragon, working with its lead actor, and more.
Speaking to Galatta Plus, Prashanth said that it was a very challenging decision for Jr NTR to make to star in the film. Recalling his first interaction with the actor, the filmmaker said, "We met five years back. When I told him the one-line of the movie, this is one of the most difficult decisions that he had to take to play this character not because of what is there in the trailer but rather what its drama is like. It was probably one of the biggest decisions that he had to make to play this particular role, and you will know by the end of the story why I am saying that."
Prashanth also revealed that Jr NTR's character in Dragon is the darkest role that he has written thus far in his career. He added that his lead actor only asked him whether the film's drama is appropriate for the dark character and whether there is a reason why it is like that. "We came up with that reasoning over the next three years. It took us three years to get to a scene that I had written at the end of the movie and validate why this character does what he does. At the end of that, he said, 'Let's do it, even if it is a risky thing for me to do.'"
The filmmaker said that it is a risky role for a film star of Jr NTR's magnitude.
