Peddi, starring Ram Charan and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, has performed really well at the box office over the first three days. Earlier this Sunday, its producer Vriddhi CInemas revealed that the film has earned more than 236.7 crore at the global box office in this period. According to data from Sacnilk, the film earned 28.85 crore from theatres on Saturday, the third day of its release — a marginal improvement from Friday's box office collection. It is worth noting that there is a discrepancy between the official Peddi box office collection that the producer has released and the data from Sacnilk. According to Sacnilk, the film has only earned 191.07 crore from theatres worldwide over the first three days of its release.
The tracker's data also shows that 25.60 crore of the day three collection for the film comes through its Telugu version alone, whereas the rest comes from its Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam iterations.
Peddi revolves around a spirited youngster (Ram Charan) and his efforts to bring the people of his village together with sports to protect them against a powerful enemy. The film stars Ram Charan as an athlete, a cricket player and a wrestler. Many critics found the use of multiple sports in the film unconvincing. Janhvi Kapoor, Jagapathi Babu, Shivarajkumar, and Divyenndu are also part of the film's cast.
There has been much debate about the treatment of Janhvi's character in the film, with many calling it out for objectification. Since then, director Buchi Babu Sana apologised for the same and promised to remove the contentious scenes from the film.
The film has collected more than Game Changer, directed by Shankar and starring Ram Charan in multiple roles. According to Sacnilk data, Game Changer earned over 180 crore from theatres worldwide.
