Chaiwala, directed by Pramod Harsha and starring Shiva Kandukuri and Teju Ashwini, has now been renamed Nawab Cafe.
Explaining the change, lead actor Shiva Kandukuri said, “We actually started promoting the film as Chaiwala and released promotional content like the teaser and songs. Changing the title midway is painful, but we have to respect the guidelines of the Censor Board.”
The film is produced by Radha V Papudippu. The makers also revealed that Nawab Cafe was the film’s original working title. Speaking about it, Shiva Kandukuri said, “I believe in destiny. I even saved director Pramod Harsha’s number as ‘Pramod Nawab Cafe’. Destiny has brought the title back. When he first narrated the story to me, the title itself was Nawab Cafe. This change is a small roadblock. It was disappointing, but we are getting good support from all sides.”
Shiva Kandukuri plays the character of Raja in the film. He revealed that the story primarily revolves around the emotional bond between a father and son. Senior actor Rajeev Kanakala plays Shiva’s father, while Raj Kasireddy will be seen in another important role.
The film is hitting the screens on February 20.
