Samantha Ruth Prabhu may have a few months to go before welcoming her first child, but her fans already appear to have started working on the baby-name list. One such suggestion recently caught the actor’s attention, prompting a typically witty response from her.
Samantha, who is expecting her first child with filmmaker Raj Nidimoru, shared a fresh set of pictures documenting her pregnancy, including glimpses of her baby bump. A fan then suggested combining the couple’s names to come up with “Samaira” for a girl or “Samaraj” for a boy. Samantha, however, seemed less than convinced by the latter. Reacting to the suggestion, she quipped, “SAMRAJ. A tad full of ourselves, don’t you think?” along with a laughing emoji.
The exchange comes days after Samantha opened up about the more practical side of preparing for motherhood during an Instagram AMA session. She revealed that she had already bought the essentials for the baby, only to find herself overwhelmed by the sheer number of things. “Bought all the baby things. Now intimidated by all the baby things. So far, the laptop stand,” she wrote.
Samantha has also been candid about the physical changes that have accompanied her pregnancy. When a fan spoke about gaining weight, the actor revealed that she had gained 11 kg so far, replying, “I feel you. 11 kg already.” She also interacted with other expectant and new mothers during the session while discussing the anticipation surrounding this new phase of her life.
The actor and Raj are reportedly expecting their baby in December. The couple had kept the pregnancy private initially, with reports about it emerging after videos from a Maa Inti Bangaaram success celebration sparked speculation in June. Sources subsequently confirmed the pregnancy, although the couple have largely chosen to share the journey on their own terms.
On the work front, Samantha is currently on a break as she prepares for motherhood. She was last seen in Maa Inti Bangaaram, directed by Nandini Reddy, which was released in June. The film also marked Samantha’s collaboration with husband Raj as a producer, and reports have since indicated that a second part is in the works. Samantha is also set to host the Tamil edition of MasterChef India, adding another television credit to her career alongside her work in films and streaming projects.
