For Priya Bhavani Shankar, Irumudi appears to have been as memorable off screen as it was on camera. Ahead of the film’s theatrical release, the actor has opened up about her experience of working with Ravi Teja and director Shiva Nirvana, describing the project as a journey filled with laughter, camaraderie and memories.
Priya plays Kaveri, the wife of Ravi Teja’s character and the mother of Baby Nakshathra’s character. While the film revolves primarily around an emotional father-daughter relationship, the promotional material has also highlighted the warmth within the family at its centre. The recently released trailer presents Ravi Teja in an emotionally driven role, with the story combining family drama, action and a spiritual thread.
Speaking about her character, Priya said Kaveri holds a special place in her filmography. She was drawn to the emotional world created by Shiva Nirvana and felt that the relationships in the story gave her character considerable depth. Her experience with Ravi Teja was equally positive. According to Priya, the actor’s natural warmth and relaxed approach made their scenes together easy to perform. She also credited Shiva Nirvana for having a clear understanding of the emotional beats he wanted from each character.
However, it was the memories made during the shoot that Priya seems to have carried away most strongly. Recalling the film’s final day, she said she realised that the team had gained much more than just a completed film from the experience. “When we finally wrapped the film, I realised how much we had taken back from this journey beyond the film itself. We shot so many scenes, made a thousand memories, collected our own inside jokes and shared so many moments of laughter,” she said.
Priya also expressed her appreciation for the film’s music, composed by G V Prakash Kumar. She said his work complements the devotional and emotional elements of Irumudi and expressed hope that the film connects with audiences.
The film is directed by Shiva Nirvana and produced by Mythri Movie Makers’ Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar. Its ensemble cast includes Sai Kumar, Ajay Ghosh, Ramesh Indira and Swasika, apart from Baby Nakshathra. G V Prakash Kumar is composing the music, with Vishnu Sharma handling cinematography, Prawin Pudi editing and Sahi Suresh overseeing production design. The film has been certified U/A and is scheduled to release in theatres on August 21 in Telugu and Tamil.
