

Sangeeth Soban and Nayan Sarika play the lead pair in Raakaasa, which was released in theatres on April 3. The film marked the directorial debut of Manasa Sharma, while Getup Srinu and Vennela Kishore appear in key roles. Produced by Niharika Konidela, this fantasy drama is now gearing up for its OTT premiere.
Raakaasa will begin streaming on Netflix from May 1. Along with Telugu, the film will also be available in Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Though it did average business during its theatrical run, the producer and distributors are said to be satisfied with its overall performance.
The story of Raakaasa follows Veerababu (Sangeeth Soban), who arrives in a village from the US to marry his love. However, by the time he reaches, her marriage is being arranged with someone else. Veeru, along with his friend Balu (Getup Srinu), tries to stop the wedding but fails.
Later, Veeru reconnects with his childhood friend Subbalakshmi (Nayan Sarika), and a romance gradually develops between them.
Meanwhile, the villagers witness three ominous signs indicating that a demon is demanding a human sacrifice. If the ritual is not fulfilled, it could lead to the destruction of the village. As this rare phenomenon occurs once in a few hundred years, Veeru accidentally enters the demon’s fort just before the sacrifice.What happens to Veeru and the true identity of the demon form the rest of the story.
The OTT platform Netflix has announced that Raakaasa will stream from May 1 in all South Indian languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
