Directed by Karthik Gattamneni, Mirai stars Manchu Manoj as the main antagonist

After collecting impressive figures on its opening weekend, Teja Sajja starrer Mirai failed to sustain the momentum on weekends. After collecting Rs 6.4 crore (nett) on Monday, the film witnessed further drop in footfalls on Tuesday.

According to Sacnilk.com, Mirai’s domestic nett collections on day 5 stands roughly at Rs 5.58 crore, a further 13 percent drop from Monday figures. Interesting, the drop came largely because of Telugu version which collected Rs 3.7 crore on Tuesday, even though the Hindi version saw a considerable spike of 64 percent. As of Tuesday, Mirai’s worldwide gross collections fall in the range of 89-92 crores.

Made on a budget of 50 crores, Mirai bagged a massive non-theatrical deal of Rs 45 crores. The film’s theatrical rights for Telugu version were reportedly sold for Rs 24.5. While the film has clearly broke-even for its Telugu distributors, it remains to be seen whether Mirai can attain a superhit status and fetch higher profit margins for everyone on the board, until the arrival of Pawan Kalyan’s OG, which hit theatres on September 25.

Mirai is directed by Karthik Gattamneni, whose previous film Eagle too was for People Media Factory banner. Mirai also stars Manchu Manoj as the main antagonist, Ritika Nayak as the female lead, and Shriya Saran in a prominent role. Besides its visual scale and VFX, the film is also garnering a lot of praise for its music director Gowra Hari.

In our review for the film, we noted, “What Mirai ultimately offers is a film caught between ambition and execution. You can sense the filmmakers’ passion, this is definitely not lazy cinema, but passion alone doesn’t make mythology breathe. The film delivers a few thrills, yes, especially as it nears the climax, but it leaves too much unrealised.”
