We had reported a few days ago about the makers of Teja Sajja-starrer Mirai announcing September 12 as the new release date for their film, where they would clash with Kishkindhapuri, the Anupama Parmeswaran-Bellamkonda Sreenivas-starrer mystery thriller. On Monday, however, Kishkindhapuri team shared an update on their release plan.
Kishkindhapuri will now release on September 13, instead of September 12. The makers linked their decision to the number 13, that is often associated with bad omens and the supernatural. “In horror culture, 13 is never just a number… It is mystery, danger, and unknown fear. And that is the reason Kishkindhapuri chooses it as the day of its arrival,” the team posted on their X page.
The film’s official teaser was unveiled on August 15. Kishkindhapuri is written and directed by Koushik Pegallapati, and produced by Sahu Garapati under Shine Screens banner which is also producing the upcoming Chiranjeevi entertainer Mana Shankara Varaprasad Gaaru by director Anil Ravipudi. Darahas Palakollu and K Bala Ganesh are credited as co-writer and additional screenplay writer, respectively. Chaitan Bharadwaj is composing music for the film. The first single of the film, ‘Undipove Naathone’, has achieved great popularity with over 3 million YouTube hits so far.
In the technical team, Chinmay Salaskar is the cinematographer and Niranjan Devaramane is the editor. Manisha A Dutt is the production designer for the atmospheric thriller, while art direction is by A Siva Kamesh.
The mystery thriller also marks the second collaboration between Sreenivas and Anupama after their 2019 hit Rakshasudu. Anupama Parmeswaran recently had a release with Paradha, the Praveen Kandregula directorial social drama that didn’t perform well at the box office. Bellamkonda Sreenivas, meanwhile, was last seen in Bhairavam, where he shared screen with Nara Rohith and Manchu Manoj.
