Ghaati, the upcoming Anushka Shetty starrer, features a stellar ensemble cast, including names like Jagapathi Babu, Chaitanya Rao, and Ravindra Vijay among others. At a press meet held on Sunday, Jagapathi Babu talked about his role in the film, and the reasons for his female fanbase.

Jagapathi Babu, who plays the role of Viswadeep in Ghaati, said, “This is not a grey-shaded role. Honestly, even I am not sure what shade is it. It’s a cocktail of many moods. It’s hard to figure out which side he is on, what he will do — there are many elements that will be gradually revealed to audience."

Anushka Shetty to skip Ghaati promotions, confirms producer

This is the first time Jagapathi Babu and Krish are working together on a film. Talking about the Ghaati director, Jagapathi Babu noted, “In the current scenario, we all know there are very few films where all characters get importance. To give all characters due space and a well-rounded arc is the sign of a good director. After a long time, I was offered such a solid character.”

The actor also addressed his strong female fanbase, adding, “I am a feminist. That’s probably why I have had such a huge female fan following for so many years. And I have said this before, Ghaati would not be as impactful if it was driven by any other male hero instead of Anushka. There is no reason why we shouldn’t have more films with female protagonists.”

Produced by UV Creations and First Frame Entertainments, Ghaati is set in the tribal heartlands of Andhra Pradesh and explores how an unsuspecting community finds itself pulled into a sprawling drug mafia. The film has dialogues by Sai Madhav Burra, art direction by National Award-winner Thota Tharani, and cinematography by Manojh Reddy Katasani. The film, that also features Vikram Prabhu as the male lead, will arrive on September 5.

Jagapathi Babu will also be seen in Teja Sajja starrer Mirai, that hits theatres on September 12.
