Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu have teamed up once again, this time for a sequel to their blockbuster Akhanda, titled Akhanda 2: Thaandavam. The team has aggressively begun promotions, starting in Mumbai with a song launch last week, followed by another song release in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday. They also visited the Simhachalam temple to seek blessings. At the song launch event on Tuesday, Balakrishna expressed strong confidence that this sequel will become a massive blockbuster.
“The other day in Mumbai, we showed the Hindi audience what our strength truly is. You all witnessed how big Akhanda became. Now, its sequel Akhanda 2: Thandavam is going to emerge as a pan-India blockbuster,” said Balakrishna at the event.
He recalled that Akhanda was released during the Covid period and not only succeeded but also encouraged several filmmakers to bring their films to theatres at that time. Speaking about the newly released song, he said, “The song ‘Jajikaya’ is not just an item number. It appears in a festive family setting. Samyuktha looks stunning in it, and you will see her strong performance in the film too. She portrayed her emotions beautifully and did complete justice to her role.”
The Jai Balayya song from Akhanda was one of the biggest chartbusters and remained at the top for months. Choreographer Bhanu Master, who worked on that song, also choreographed ‘Jajikaya’ for the sequel, and Balakrishna said it turned out brilliantly. “Thaman has spent many sleepless nights on this film. He composed extraordinary music for this song. Kasarla Shyam garu penned the lyrics wonderfully,” he said, adding that singers Shreya Ghoshal and Brijesh Shandilya delivered it beautifully.
“With Akhanda becoming such a huge hit, expectations for this sequel have naturally increased. That is why Akhanda 2:Thandavam will meet all those expectations,” said Balakrishna. He further added that this is not just a Telugu film — it represents the power and valour of India’s Sanatana Hindu Dharma. “This film speaks about the roots of our nation. That is why we are promoting it in all languages,” he explained.
Balakrishna also mentioned that he will visit Karnataka on Wednesday for promotions, followed by Tamil Nadu. The film is produced by Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta under 14 Reels Plus banner.
