

Baahubali: The Epic took a staggering opening at the box office on Friday, collecting Rs 9.15 crore nett at the domestic box office. The film had also performed very well in the select premiere shows that were held on Thursday, October 30, garnering Rs. 1.25 crore (nett).
And so, the iconic SS Rajamouli film series has managed to easily cross the 10 crore mark on Friday itself, according to a report by Sacnilk.com. As of on Saturday morning (9 am), the film’s nett domestic collections stand at Rs 11.02 crore. By the first weekend, Baahubali: The Epic is aiming at a nett collection of Rs 30 crore or more in India alone, Hindi belt included.
There is no clarity yet on the overseas box office figures of the film. However, with a wide release in over 400 screens, the film is expected to perform very well in overseas territory too, particularly the US where it has been heavily promoted.
While there have been some major changes in the film’s edit, including the removal of several songs and many scenes featuring Tamannaah Bhatia, the overall response to the re-release cut has been exceptionally positive. The advance bookings in tier-1 centres are exceptional, so Baahubali: The Epic is looking at a strong run ahead for the next few days.
Among Telugu film releases, the highest-gross record is currently held by Mahesh Babu starrer Khaleja, which collected nearly Rs 13.25 crore at the box office.
