The Mahesh Babu starrer Khaleja, which will officially have a massive-scale re-release tomorrow, has led to great frenzy among the actor’s fan clubs whose enthusiasm reflected in the advance figures registered at the box office. However, it appears the fans are in for a disappointment as reports of a butchered re-release 4K print have been doing the rounds.

Many videos have been circulating on the internet, from the special premiere shows held on Thursday, where fans can be seen outraging at the venue at the missing scenes and songs from the version that’s been played in the re-release run. One of these videos is from popular Hyderabad theatre Sudarshan, where theatre staff is clarifying that they are running the print as received and haven’t made any changes on their end.

Another video from Guntur has cine-goers stopping the screening and complaining to the theatre officials, while one of the attendees is trying to explain the technicalities to fellow audience members. The makers of Khaleja and the distributors are yet to officially respond to the controversy.

The outrage particularly stems from the overwhelming reception the news of Khaleja re-release has received. According to a report from Sacnilk.com , the film has grossed over 3 crores at worldwide box office only in advance bookings. It remains to be seen whether the reports of an altered re-release version will dampen the film’s box-office earnings from the re-release.

Interestingly enough, even though Khaleja now enjoys a cult following among Telugu cine-goers, the film was deemed as a commercial failure when it first released back in 2010.
