The makers of Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 Sword vs Spirit released their new single, ‘Asura Hananam’ at a grand ceremony on Wednesday. Besides the film’s producer A Dayakar Rao, others in attendance were presenter AM Rathnam, director Jyothi Krisna, Niddhi Agerwal and music composer MM Keeravani. On the occasion, Keeravani spoke about the unique aspect of his new composition, while also praising AR Rahman for his initiative of crediting chorus artists many years ago.
Talking about how ‘Asura Hananam’ is entirely sung in chorus vocals, MM Keeravani stated, “If energetic compositions like these have to come out in their best form, the chorus section becomes very important. In this song, if you noticed, there is no solo voice — everything has been sung by chorus.”
Further crediting AR Rahman for the trend of crediting chorus singers, Keeravani said, “Up until a few years ago, if we had to credit chorus artists, we would collectively mention them as ‘brindam’ (chorus), instead of listing individual names. However, Rahman chose to acknowledge the individual artistry of these singers and decided to give them due credits as singers, paving the path for other composers. For that, I would like to thank him.”
Penned by Rambabu Gosala, ‘Asura Hananam’ features the vocals of Airaa Udupi, Kaala Bhairava, Sai Charan Bhaskaruni, Lokeshwar Edra and Hymath Mohammed. The song has also been released in Tamil and Hindi.
Hari Hara Veera Mallu is scheduled for theatrical release on June 12.
