Nithiin, who was last seen in the action caper Robinhood, is gearing up for his next release Thammudu that hits theatres on July 4. The film, produced by Dil Raju and Shirish, has been billed as an emotional action drama. However, a few days ahead of the release, the makers have surprisingly decided to go for an ‘A’ certificate for their film.
Reportedly, the censor board had asked for a few cuts in Thammudu, which is high on violence, in order to grant it a ‘U’ certificate. However, the makers decided to rather go for ‘A’ certificate, technically limiting their audience but also deciding not to compromise on film’s cinematic strengths.
Directed by Venu Sriram, the film promisingly revolves around a brother-sister duo and their relationship. The brother, played by Nithiin, is an archer who returns to his village, and navigates the intense conflicts and threats from local antagonists.
Thammudu also stars Laya and Sapthami Gowda in prominent roles, and Animal fame Saurabh Sachdeva as the antagonist. The supporting cast includes Varsha Bollamma, Swasika, Hari Teja, Srikanth Iyyengar, and Temper Vamshi. The music is composed by Ajaneesh Loknath, with cinematography by KV Guhan and editing by Prawin Pudi.
Upon it’s release, Thammudu will clash at the boxoffice against Naveen Chandra starrer thriller Show Time.
