Eminent producer Dil Raju, who is gearing up for his next release with Nithin starrer Thammudu, has had big releases earlier this year like Ram Charan starrer Game Changer and Sankranthiki Vasthunam. While Sankranthiki Vasthunam was a massive hit, the box office failure of Game Changer left a huge dent on the producer’s credentials too. During a recent interview, Dil Raju opened up on the film’s underwhelming commercial performance, calling it a ‘mistake.’
Speaking to M9 news about the working experience on Game Changer, Dil Raju stated, “When you are making a big film with a big director, these problems are bound to occur — for any producer, not just me.” The producer also called making Game Changer a mistake, adding, “I am close to 60 films, but I never worked with a big director. On projects like these, I should atleast put down my points in contract, and move forward. That was my first mistake.” Further reflecting upon Game Changer and working with Shankar, Dil Raju added, “As a producer, if you interfere, it can lead to chaos on a daily basis. It’s your call, whether to choose daily chaos or step in once the film is ready.”
Acknowledging his failure as a producer, Dil Raju noted, “When mistakes happen, its the producer’s responsibility to step in and take control. I couldnt stop it, it’s my failure. I should accept it, and not take up such projects going forward.” The producer also said that he also feels emotional about Game Changer not working, besides regretting. “But sometimes, things are not in our hands,” he concluded.
Game Changer marked first Telugu original film for Shankar, and marked Dil Raju’s second collaboration with Ram Charan after Yevadu (2014).
