The 2001 Telugu film Hanuman Junction, fondly remembered for its comedy, is set for a theatrical re-release on June 28. The announcement was made by the film’s team on Monday.
Directed by Mohan Raja in his debut, the film featured Arjun Sarja, Jagapathi Babu, and Venu Thottempudi in the lead roles. Raja later went on to direct acclaimed Tamil films such as Jayam and Thani Oruvan. The film also starred Laya, Sneha, and Vijayalakshmi, with an ensemble supporting cast including Brahmanandam, Ali, MS Narayana, Kovai Sarala, LB Sriram, and Venu Madhav.
Hanuman Junction was a remake of the 2000 Malayalam comedy, Thenkasipattanam. The film’s plot revolves around best friends Krishna (Arjun) and Dasu (Jagapathi Babu), who are notorious gangsters in the Hanuman Junction area. Trouble arises when both men fall for the same woman and their enemy creates a rift between them.
Produced by MV Lakshmi under the ML Movie Arts banner and founded by editor Mohan, Hanuman Junction was well-received for its engaging screenplay, comic sequences, and commercial storytelling. Hanuman Junction’s cinematography was handled by C Ramprasad, and the music was composed by Suresh Peters.
