After registering a staggering response on opening day at box office, Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu struggled to keep up the momentum in subsequent days, largely owing to critical response from critics and audience alike. Many of the reviews particularly criticized the sub-par VFX of the movie, which dampened the mood for film-goers. During a recent interview, director Jyothi Krisna addressed the said criticism.
Speaking to ABN Chitrajyothy, Jyothi Krisna said, “Every film has some strengths and weaknesses. Some fans connect to emotions, or the star. While some people were adamant to pick on a loophole, so they chose the VFX subject and began trolling about it.”
The filmmaker also spoke about the positive side of the criticism, adding, “The good thing is, nobody has criticised the story and screenplay. Nobody said the film is boring, or difficult to understand. They only picked up on a trivial aspect like VFX, and built on it.”
Further talking about the complexity of the VFX requirements of his film, Jyothi Krisna noted, “There are 4400 CGI shots in the film, the highest for a Telugu film ever. If you watch the film from the beginning, it’s all VFX. However, some shots requirement came at last minute, barely lasting 30-40 seconds. We thought then, of postponing the release by 1 day, since it seemed like a small thing. Meanwhile, the fans couldn’t hold the excitement, and premiere shows were held, so we thought of revising those shots in updated version. Meanwhile, that minor issue became a big thing for fans.”
Jyothi Krisna clarified that all the VFX work was updated right after the film’s release. “While the audience criticised the VFX shots on day 1, all shots were updated on day 2 itself. The version people are watching now, it’s with all updated CG shots.”
Meanwhile, after showing considerable growth in collections over the weekend, the film had a drastic fall again on Monday, garnering only Rs 2.25 crore in nett figures in India. The film’s domestic collections stand at Rs 77 crore nett, as of Monday.
