Keerthy Suresh who plays the lead in the recently released satirical comedy Uppu Kappurambu, described the film as a refreshing break in her career. The National Award-winning actor stars as Apoorva, a reluctant village chief caught in the middle of a peculiar crisis, a shortage of burial space in a small rural village.

Currently streaming on Prime Video, the film blends satire with rooted storytelling and has been well received for its quirky narrative and grounded tone. Reflecting on what drew her to the project, Keerthy said, “What drew me to Uppu Kappurambu was its unique blend of satire and heart.”

She added that the shoot served as an emotional shift after a previous intense role. “I had finished shooting for a very intense film before starting Uppu Kappurambu, so working on this felt like a much-needed breather,” she said and added, “Shooting for this film was just like being at home completely relaxed. When the shoot wrapped up, I was actually a bit upset; I did not want it to end.”

Directed by Ani IV Sasi and produced by Radhika Lavu under Ellanar Films, Uppu Kappurambu also stars Suhas, Babu Mohan, Shatru, and Talluri Rameshwari. The film is available to stream in Telugu and dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
