With the rise of AI, many actors across the globe have called out its harmful effects and misuse. After Shriya Saran, Aditi Rao Hydari, Keerthy Suresh, Sai Pallavi and several others flagged AI-generated images and warned users against using them, Nivetha Thomas has now put out a similar message against the circulation of such images in the pretext of misusing her identity.
Sharing details on her social media handles, she hit back at those who were indulging in the activity, calling it a "serious violation of privacy." In a stern message, Nivetha warned the pages to take down the AI-generated images of her and urged people to not "reshare, engage with, or legitimise such material in any form."
Calling it "deeply disturbing, unacceptable, and unlawful", she wrote, "I am putting this on record. Those responsible, including accounts operating behind anonymity, are directed to immediately stop and take down such content," she wrote, cautioning them of legal consequences upon continued circulation of such images. "Any continued circulation will be treated as deliberate misuse of my identity and escalated legally," she said.
On Wednesday, Sreeleela posted a similar message sharing her concerns about the misuse of AI. She wrote, "I put my hands together and request every social media user not to support AI-generated nonsense. There is a difference between using and abusing technology. Advancements in technology are meant to simplify life, not complicate it, in my opinion." The actor argued that the abuse of AI and technology is posing a safety threat to artists like her in the film industry.
Nivetha Thomas was last seen in the Telugu film 35 Chinna Katha Kaadu, directed by Nanda Kishore Emani which also starred Arundev Pothula, Vishwadev Rachakonda and Priyadarshi Pulikonda in lead roles.
