While the teaser of Vishwak Sen’s Funky received plenty of praise, the makers have been constantly revising their release date plans. Reportedly considering a Christmas release at first, the Funky team had announced April 3 as the release date.
However, it appears that the reports of Pawan Kalyan starrer Ustaad Bhagat Singh around March or April has caused quite a stir in the industry. On Monday, Funky makers announced February 13 as the new release date.
The film’s production house Sithara Entertainments shared the update with the caption, “Your ticket to a crazy, fun-filled experience with Funky arriving on 13th Feb. Fun for all. Madness for everyone. 100% Entertainment guaranteed.” It is to be noted that a few days ago, Swayambhu too set February 13 as the release date.
Directed by Jathi Ratnalu fame Anudeep KV, Funky also stars Kayadu Lohar in a prominent role, marking her Telugu debut. Anudeep shares writing credits with Mohan Sato. Bheems Cecicoleo is the music director for the film. Navin Nooli helms editing, and Suresh Sarangam is the cinematographer.
In a film that promises to be a wacky satire on film industry, Vishwak Sen plays Komal, a popular film director, while Kayadu Lohar stars as an actress Chitra who happens to be the daughter of a wealthy producer. Funky also marks second collaboration between Vishwak Sen and producer Naga Vamsi, of Sithara Entertainments banner, who is producing the film in collaboration with their frequent associate Fortune Four Entertainments. Meanwhile, Srikara Studios is onboard as the presenter.
Funky was officially launched in December 2024, with a shoot commencing in January this year. The first teaser of the film was unveiled in October.
Vishwak Sen was last seen in the comedy-entertainer Laila, which released in February and had lukewarm reception from both critics and box office. On the other hand, Kayadu achieved great popularity with her role in Dragon, which released around the same time.
