Ever since Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu hit theatres and opened to lukewarm reception last month, there was a lot of speculation about whether the makers would go for a standard four-week theatrical window before the film begins streaming on an OTT platform. On Tuesday, it was confirmed that Hari Hara Veera Mallu will begin streaming on Prime Video on Tuesday midnight, i.e., August 20.

Reportedly, the OTT rights for HHVM have been acquired by the streamer for Rs 50 crore. Besides Telugu, the film will also be available for streaming in Tamil and Malayalam. In our review for the film, we noted, “Nothing convinces you that this film has a story to tell at its heart. Or if it does, the film doesn’t know how to tell it. For all its political references and righteous monologues, HHVM is as hollow as the dummy sword they used.”

Besides other aspects, the film was heavily criticised particularly for its sub-par VFX. Made on a mammoth budget of approximately Rs 250 crore, Hari Hara Veera Mallu turned out to be a losing proposition for its producers as well as distributors. After taking a huge opening on day 1, the film witnessed a steep fall in its collections over the subsequent days.

The film was originally helmed by Krish Jagarlamudi, but later, AM Rathnam's son Jyothi Krisna took over direction. Hari Hara Veera Mallu also starred Bobby Deol as the antagonist and Niddhi Agerwal as the female lead. Additionally, the ensemble cast included prominent names like Sathyaraj, Nasser, Murali Sharma, Makarand Deshpande, and Sunil. MM Keeravani composed music for the film. Thota Tharani was the production designer, while cinematography was by Manoj Paramhansa.
