The popular Chiranjeevi starrer Stalin, which originally released in 2006, will have a theatrical release coming week on August 22, on the occasion of the actor's birthday. The social drama was produced by Nagendra Babu, and directed by AR Murugadoss. On the occasion, Chiranjeevi issued a video speech, talking about the film’s relevance for new film-goers.
In his video speech, Chiranjeevi said, “It’s been nearly two decades since the film released. Producer Nagendra Babu is making great efforts to re-release Stalin on my birthday this year. This film is very special for me, because it gives a great message — talking about the essence of fighting enemies and rival within the country, as much as the importance of fighting enemy states on the border.”
Further talking about the film’s relevance, Chiranjeevi said, “Stalin was one such film which gave such an important message for young audience. I am hoping this film gives you a great experience all over again.”
Also starring Trisha and Khushu Sundar in prominent roles, Stalin received overall positive reviews upon its release. The film was awarded Nandi Special July award later that year. A few years later, the film was remade in Hindi with Salman Khan in the lead. Stalin also marked the first of Murugadoss’ Telugu films, followed by Mahesh Babu starrer Spyder (which was a Tamil-Telugu bilingual).
Chiranjeevi’s upcoming films include MEGA157, directed by Anil Ravipudi, and Vishwambhara, the much-anticipated fantasy drama by Vassishtha.
