Bunny Vas, who is theatrically releasing the upcoming rom-com Little Hearts in association with Vamsi Nandipati, was present at the first single launch event for the film that was held on Thursday. On the occasion, the producer shared his views on the ongoing film workers’ strike and also the difficulties faced by small and mid-range film producers.

Addressing the media, Bunny Vas said, “Of course Telugu cinema has gained recognition on an international level, but how many films? At best, 10-12 of them, including old and new films. We cannot calculate the entire Telugu industry’s revenues or progress on basis of those 10-12 films.”

Bunny Vas went on to throw light on the struggles of smaller film producers, adding, “If I am producing a small film currently, it’s not possible to make it below a budget of Rs 12-13 crore — be it due to artist remunerations or other departments.”

The Thandel producer also spoke about the dire need to maintain a balance, when it comes to hiring technicians from local and other industries. He noted, “We need to update Telugu technicians’ skills, definitely. We also need to understand that for some films, international technicians are essential. We can’t match the standards with our local technicians, at present. However, what also becomes double of a burden is to maintain a ratio between local technicians and outside hero.”

Bunny Vas also clarified that he is not against the idea of pay hike for film workers, but disagrees with the percentage that's being demanded. "There has been no hike since 3 years, so it's inevitable. At the same time, the percentage they are asking - 30 percent this year, following by 10 percent hike for the next two years - is a little too high. So the producers are asking them to balance it a little," he added.
