Producer TG Vishwa Prasad has confirmed that Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab will have a second instalment. Speaking in a recent interview, he said, “Raja Saab 2 is definitely happening, but it won’t be a direct continuation of Part 1. It will follow the same theme and elements but will be a different story within the same franchise.”
Directed by Maruthi, The Raja Saab is a horror comedy featuring Prabhas in a dual role, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal and Riddhi Kumar. Vishwa Prasad further revealed that the team has shot over four-and-a-half hours of raw footage. “Director Maruthi is working to bring it down to around two hours and 45 minutes, or potentially up to three hours if required,” he added.
On the release date, the producer said, “Hindi buyers are asking for a 5 December release, while Telugu buyers want it for 9 January to coincide with Sankranthi. We will take a call that suits us best.” He also mentioned that filming will conclude by the end of October. While December was initially locked, Sankranthi is emerging as a preferred option to avoid a clash with other major releases and to capitalise on the festival window.
The Raja Saab, produced under the People Media Factory banner, is one of Prabhas’ most anticipated projects following Kalki 2898 AD and comes alongside ongoing work on sequels Kalki 2 and Salaar 2. The horror-comedy is set around a haunted mansion, touted as the largest horror set built in India.
