Rayar Parambarai Movie Review: A rudderless talkathon in the guise of comedy

Rating:(1 / 5)

Filmmaker Ramnath T's Rayar Parambarai has a non-linear screenplay, an almost hyperlink narrative and senior actors like KR Vijaya and Anandraj. All these ingredients might sound like a recipe for a fairly engaging film but unfortunately, this isn't one. Though the director aimed to deliver a comedy of errors, the end result feels like a bouquet of errors, with people from every department doing their fair share of damage to make Rayar Parambarai a testing experience.

Cast: Krishna, Sharanya, Anandraj, Rajenderen
Director: Ramnath T

Raayar Parambarai has a wafer-thin storyline of a couple trying to buy time for the girl to turn a major and get married legally, but this simple, overdone story is told in the most superficial way with over-the-top performances. Oh, there are also subplots involving two girls who fight for Krishna and a wannabe political party that tries hard to separate lovers, which also involves the actors doing an unfunny talkathon.

Every scene in the film is filled with non-stop dialogue delivered by everyone on screen. After a while seeing we start guessing their exchanges much before they could complete the sentences. The film's disjointed screenplay only adds to our worry, as the audience can see predict the next scene of the story without breaking a sweat. With such weak writing, the actors can't be entirely blamed for delivering a forgettable, exaggerated performance.

Raya Parambarai is a challenge even for the viewers who laugh at the simplest of all jokes. After a point in the film, it isn't the lack of moments or entertainment in the film that irks you, but it is the sheer lack of effort by the creators. In one of the trivial scenes in the film, Rajendran says,"Ivanunga laam TV news reader ku vanakkam veikra makku pasanga pa," to mock the intellect of his fellow villagers, sadly, the filmmaker Ramnath seems to considered his audience to be one among those.
